Biography

A native of Portland, Oregon, Ellie graduated from Barnard in 2023 with a degree in Architecture and English. Her Barnard experience was shaped by helping others say what they mean—she worked as a Writing Fellow at the Writing Center, a staff writer for the Barnard/Columbia Urban Review, and a Head Barnard Student Admissions Representative for the Office of Admissions. After graduating, Ellie worked as an Applied Learning Fellow in Barnard’s Athena Center for Leadership. In this role, she supported the facilitation and administration of Athena’s communities of practice, which offer opportunities for students to develop their change-making skills and build a better world. Ellie’s return to Barnard Admissions is driven by the same passion that brought her to this community and contributes to her experience today: collaborating with others, understanding diverse perspectives, and thinking through how a person’s environment influences their access to opportunity. She is excited to increase access and equity in college admissions while advocating for a women’s liberal arts education.

Why did you choose to work at Barnard?

Barnard is a singular place defined by its curiosity, joy, and care. From the students to the staff to the faculty, I am constantly in awe of how community members choose to show up for one another—which makes me choose Barnard time and time again!

Gah! There are so many! The list is always evolving, but here are a few of my time-tested faves:

What is your favorite thing to do in NYC?

My perfect day in NYC involves a stroll through Central Park then hunkering down at a local coffee shop with my latest read (coffee and pastry in hand!).

What is your favorite place on campus?

The Brooks study lounge <3

What is a random fun fact about yourself?

I’m a big NWSL and USWNT supporter! In my free time, you can find me cheering on Gotham FC and the Portland Thorns, and reading up on all the latest women's soccer news. (Keep an eye on Sam Coffey this year—big things are coming her way!)
